It’s possible to be afraid of colour and of making a mess of a painting, this is something I know only too well and there are many times when I despair of the piece I’m doing turning out useable for a video.

Materials

I used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor paints, a Princeton Aqua Elite size 12 brush and a white gel pen from Uniball Signo.

The Kuretake paints are beautifully bright and consist of 48 colours which complement one another and help you to create really striking artwork. Whether you choose a multi coloured composition like this one, or prefer to limit yourself to tonal variations or monochrome paintings, this set gives you plenty of options. For example, there are nine blues in the set, ten greens, six reds and five or six yellows, as well as a range of neutrals and metallics. I find this set excellent for florals and loose abstracts, and because the pan size is so large you can easily use a bigger brush and pick up large amounts of paint very quickly.
