Country Garden Birds Coloring Book Tutorials

Below are all twenty full-length tutorials showing step by step how I painted each of the paintings in the Country Garden Birds Coloring Book, in the same order as the book.

If you are a beginner you might enjoy painting each tutorial a few times, firstly by printing the sketch directly onto a piece of lightweight watercolor paper, so that it’s quick to start again if you need to, then by tracing the design onto a heavier piece of watercolor paper once you’re more confident, so that you can erase the lines when you’ve finished painting, and finally by copying the design yourself and enjoying the variations you’ll inevitably get, so that you begin to discover and develop your own style.

You can put any birds on the painting, blue tits and robins would be great for a European setting, and chickadees or cardinals suit the North American natural world very well. This time of year you start to see crows roosting in the trees in the late evening as they begin to get ready for the night. With fewer leaves on the trees they are more visible than at other times of the year. They gather together for security and protection against predators and also to maintain their body warmth as they huddle together. How to Rescue an Epic Watercolour Fail! This demonstration shows how to rescue a painting that has been overworked and involves the drawing, the initial painting, the washing out and the finishing of the painting. As well as a sheet of watercolour paper, all you need is the following limited palette, a No. 10 and No. 7 round synthetic brush, and a script liner or rigger for the background.
