Hi Insiders!

This week's newsletter is a quick one...

Time is short as I write this, so this week's newsletter will be too. But I have a couple of things I'd like to make sure I pass on to you (before I continue rearranging the studio!).

Kuretake FINALLY Contacted me!

The big news (for me at least!) is that Kuretake got in touch recently, and offered to send me their two latest products.

Gansai Tambi Granulating Colors

The first new product arrived yesterday, and I spent yesterday afternoon exploring them and teaching myself how to use them. Then I filmed a review this morning, which will have gone live on YouTube just before you received this email. Do take a look!
They're VERY unusual paints, and not at all what I expected based on the name 'granulating colors'. My first impressions were dubious, but as I continued to work with them I found more and more ways of using them, and the effects they achieve improve as the paint dries.
In the review video I show you at least three different ways of using them, half a dozen practice paintings, and a full demo of using them to paint dragonflies.

I don't think you'll be disappointed...

...if you let go of your expectations and allow them to boost your creativity!
These paints are going to be fantastic for anyone who has tried to loosen up but can't seem to let go of their control over the paint. They are literally impossible to control, so by buying and using them you will be forcing yourself to let go a bit!
They are currently $24.50 on Amazon in the US. Not bargain basement, but then you wouldn't expect that from a newly-developed and unique product like this!

ps. Links to Amazon are affiliate links, which means that we will receive a small commission if you choose to buy, at no extra cost to you. This not only helps to keep our channel running, but also helps to strengthen our relationships with manufacturers and retailers so that I can try out new products and get discounts for you, like our permanent 10% off discount with Meeden and Viviva. (Wouldn't a Kuretake discount be nice??!!)

This Week on YouTube

At the start of the week I needed a mood-lifter, and there is nothing better than covering a page with bright color, adding some leaf motifs, and finishing with mark making! Then I had a real treat to share with you, as I unboxed and tried out the long-awaited professional watercolors from Michael Harding in England.
And of course the #brilliantbirds members challenge continues. In case you're wondering, we haven't forgotten about the full-length versions of these paintings for members, or the sketches, but time pressure means that we're having to do them in batches rather than on the day.

Most Popular...

This week's winner is the 4hr compilation of Whimsical Landscapes which is made up of half a dozen mark making and intuitive paintings - including the popular 'houses on a hill' idea that's shown in the thumbnail below.

Look out for a traditional landscape compilation, coming to a YouTube channel near you very soon!

To Inspire You...

On the topic of landscapes, have you seen my watercolor version of this masterpiece by Monet? I tackled it three years ago, in two videos - one for the landscape, and one for the figures.
Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoyed this edition of the Insiders' Newsletter.
See you next week!
