Welcome back! Today we’re going to have a little fun with wet-in-wet watercolor, painting a row of colourful, wonderfully wonky trees.

This is one of those techniques where you have to let go of a little control and allow the paint to do some of the work. We’ll wet the paper, drop in rich greens, warm ochres, reds and deep purples, and simply watch the colours flow and mingle.

Once the backgrounds have dried, we’ll add leaves, berries and little floral details, giving each tree its own character. Some of the loveliest effects in watercolor happen when you stop trying to make everything behave!

So if you sometimes worry about making mistakes, this is a lovely exercise in letting go, enjoying the process and seeing what happens.
