Hi Insiders!

As we move further into August our thoughts are starting to turn towards autumn scheduling on YouTube. Something that's high on the list of priorities is to put up new "Non-Stop Watercolor" videos regularly again, starting in September.

Do you know about our Compilation Videos?

If you haven't seen any of these tutorial compilations yet, they are all three or four hours long and provide non-stop creative inspiration for you to play in the background while you create or work, or to watch and relax to while storing up ideas and inspiration for your next painting session.
Each video has timestamps to help you find specific paintings when you want them, and there are also links to the original videos, which often include information about products or materials which have been cut out of the compilations in order to keep the mood calm and restful.
The video descriptions also have links to all available sketches, or in the case of the Whimsical Birds compilation, there's a sketch bundle which includes the sketches for all eleven paintings in the four and a half hour long compilation video. And it's this sketch bundle that we'd like to give you, absolutely free.

Why are we giving the sketch bundle away?

If you've been subscribed to our newsletter for a while, you might remember that we asked for your help getting the whimsical birds video seen, because YouTube's search and discover algorithm decided it didn't like it - which was disappointing because it is our longest-ever compilation (and for various reasons it took a particularly long time to put it together).
Your help got the video off the starting blocks but it still hasn't been shown widely. So now we'd like to try again, and we're going to give a free copy of the sketch bundle that goes with the video to anyone who's willing to play this little game with us!

Play a game to get your FREE Whimsical Birds Bundle!

Here are the rules of the game!
  1. Find the answers to these questions by watching the video:
    • What kind of brush do I wash in the jar of water in the video intro?
    • What color of Sennelier ink do I use for the three birds on branches, which I painted with Daniel Smith Primatek paints?
    • How many paintings do I use a waterbrush for?
  2. Share the video to someone you know, your Facebook feed, or wherever you can
  3. Send us an email at studio@dianeantone.com with the subject "Whimsical Birds" and with the answer to the question in the body of the email.
We will reply to your email with a coupon for your free sketch bundle.

Here's the video :)

There's no time limit on this, it's just a bit of fun to see whether between us we can influence YouTube's algorithm!

  • a new brush technique, which has been derived from oriental brush techniques and is a perfect use for a quill mop brush.
  • a new pen and ink 'scratched' background technique.

To Inspire You...

This week's inspiration comes from a very creative lady called Helen, who I discovered on YouTube recently. Her channel is called Helen's mousiemakes podcast and she creates wonderfully calm, creative and genuine videos about crafting, music, poetry, nature and campervan adventures around the UK. She posts once a week, and is about to reach 200 episodes. Here's one to encourage all of us as we aspire to be creative people:
